Careers Program

My Career by Choice program delivers an end-to-end traditional and green career solution by preparing you to be successful today and in the future, building on your experience, competencies, and career desires.

A requirement of this program is that you devote approximately 20 training hours per week to program work throughout the three-month program (240 hours total).  This Guide outlines how to create and track a Training and Development Plan for you to achieve your career goals, along with some other certificate components. You will need to fulfill these requirements in order to receive your certificate.

Purpose

The My Career by ChoiceTraining and Development Guide helps you prepare a personalized development plan that is based on your customized strategy for a traditional or green career. This Guide includes a template that you and your career coach will use to identify and plan critical job competencies to develop via training workshops, webinars and a variety of other non-classroom development opportunities.  It is designed to help you focus on your motivation, skill and knowledge needs, and your career goals.

Finding Your Career “Sweet Spot”

One of the most important and thoughtful activities you can do during your career planning process is to explore where your career “sweet spot” is. In other words, search for the intersection of your interests, capabilities and needs with the marketplace opportunities in industries and functions, and where you can add the most value. It’s an exciting time where you will find many ways to plan where you fit in the economy.
